Eulogy for Tony Tonkin

Farringdon is a very small rural community and understandably everyone tends to know all or most of the people who live here. Some of the residents, especially those who have been here a long time, become especially well known, and a few of them become over the years particularly loved, respected and valued. One such person was Tony Tonkin whose loss we mourn today in this service.
Tony was a wonderful and remarkable man – indeed it can truly be said of him that he was one of nature’s gentlemen. He was a kind and thoughtful man and always sensitive to the needs of those around him.
He was an utterly loyal, loving and deeply devoted husband, and a generous, loving and supportive father.
We in Farringdon knew him best as a wise and friendly neighbour who was never too busy to stop and have a word, and always willing to take his part in the life of this community. Tony’s loss has left a huge hole in the village and he will be deeply missed by all of us.
We would like to extend our love and profoundest sympathies to Gill and all her family at this sad time.
