Farringdon Partish Councillors
Alan Pearce - Chairman
I moved to Farringdon well over twenty years ago and have been actively involved in the community ever since. I spent several years serving on the Parish Council in the earlier years as well as starting the original village newsletter "Farringdon news". More recently I have concentrated on running The Farringdon History Society and two years ago started the quarterly History newsletter. We are told change is coming, whether we like it or not. I will strive to ensure the area is being enhanced and hot spoilt, following the preferences given by the residence in the Parish Plan.
Jack Smith - Vice Chairman
Devon, especially this particular part of it, is under pressure to change enormously in the coming years. Since being persuaded to stand as a parish councillor, and duly elected in May 2007, I am striving to ensure that any changes that do occur will make our community a better place to live, work and play and enhance our quality of life, protect our local environment and is in harmony with local opinion. I moved here in 2003 when I retired because I literally fell in love with the area – it’s amazing how motivating that passion can be!

I have lived in Farringdon for 15 years since my husband Peter decided to return to his roots. We lived for many years in several countries of the Middle East and North Africa. I eventually became head teacher of the nursery and infant departments of the British school in Benghazi, Libya. I was a member of our P.C.C. (Parochial Church Council) for several years and now represent you on our Parish Council. Hopefully a new, younger resident will one day step into my shoes.
Alana Sayers - Parish Clerk
I have lived in Farringdon since 2002 and my family were attracted to live here by the lovely Devon countryside within which Farringdon is situated. I became clerk in September 2005 and have continued to process the clerical side of the running of the Parish Council ever since. We live in ever changing times and policies so it keeps me on my toes!
